  9. Automatically remove unwanted Windows and DOS programs, files, directories 
  10. and restore the system's AUTOEXEC.BAT, CONFIG.SYS, WIN.INI, SYSTEM.INI and 
  11. disk boot sector system tracks. Quickly and easily! You'll wonder how  you 
  12. ever did without it!. Run Rosenthal UnInstall before you add anything  new 
  13. to your system. New programs can then be added and, at your option,  kept, 
  14. or deleted, and the system completely returned to normal.

  16. Single  systems,  as  well as networks with multiple  and  even  removable 
  17. drives  are supported. Safeguards provide display of all  directories  and 
  18. files  (including hidden and duplicate ones) for review and  confirmation. 
  19. Accept additions, or safely delete them.
  20.  
  21. Rosenthal  UnInstall maintains a map of your disk drives and  records  the 
  22. appearance  of  each  new installation. When  you  execute  "UNINSTAL.EXE" 
  23. before  adding  new  software  to your  system,  Rosenthal  UnInstall  can 
  24. automatically remove it at some latter date.

  26. The best way to determine if any program will satisfy your needs is to try 
  27. it  for  yourself.  Rosenthal UnInstall makes  trying  new  software  more 
  28. attractive  by  eliminating  the  aggravation  normally  associated   with 
  29. removing unwanted software and restoring the system. Unwanted software  is 
  30. removed   and   the  system  restored  safely   and   automatically.   All 
  31. modifications,   additions  and  deletions  made  to   the   AUTOEXEC.BAT, 
  32. CONFIG.SYS, WIN.INI and SYSTEM.INI can be restored. At your option, any of 
  33. the  added  files  and  subdirectories may  be  kept  or  safely  deleted, 
  34. including  hidden  and  read-only files. Even the disk  boot  sectors  are 
  35. handled.

  39.                       How to use Rosenthal UnInstall
  40.  
  41. First copy the files from your distribution diskette, CD-ROM or archive to 
  42. the root directory of your hard disk. 
  43.  
  44.                For example:

  47. Rosenthal  Uninstall  will work in both a DOS or  MS-Windows  environment. 
  48. That's an important feature, because if for some reason you install a  new 
  49. program  that causes Windows to crash, you'll need Rosenthal UnInstall  to 
  50. remove   it  and  restore  your  system  files  even  though  Windows   is 
  51. inoperative. Rosenthal UnInstall can remove some very nasty installations.
  52.  
  53. If you use your Windows program manager to add Rosenthal UnInstall  (NEW), 
  54. an  icon  will be displayed. Although this program has a  MS-Windows  file 
  55. format,  it forces the system into the DOS mode when in Windows  or  OS/2. 
  56. Rosenthal UnInstall is designed to remove Windows software; however it  is 
  57. not  dependent  on Windows functioning and will work independent  of  your 
  58. memory, network and multitasking managers, mouse and graphics drivers.
  59.  
  60. It's important that your system's time and date are correctly adjusted, so 
  61. please take a moment to make any corrections before proceeding.
  62.  
  63. The  first time you run Rosenthal UnInstall, it will prompt you  to  enter 
  64. your  full name, and your registered serial number. Don't  take  shortcuts 
  65. when entering your real name correctly. You will need to know exactly  how 
  66. it was entered should you require technical support and upgrades. 
  67.  
  68. This software may be used without a serial number for a limited evaluation 
  69. period  before  paying  the  required registration  fee.  If  you  have  a 
  70. registered copy, enter the serial number exactly as it appears printed  on 
  71. the  distribution diskette when prompted. To try this software  without  a 
  72. registered serial number, just press ENTER at the serial number prompt. 
  73.  
  74. A stick-on label with the last digits of the serial number is included. If 
  75. you  are  subject  to  software  audits,  the  label  is  your  proof   of 
  76. registration  when it is affixed to a single computer (on the back or  the 
  77. bottom  of  the  keyboard works well). Each computer  must  have  its  own 
  78. registered Rosenthal UnInstall serial number.

  80. Registered  users will receive the latest version of this program and  the 
  81. unregistered  software  to evaluate listed in the  TRY_THIS.DOC.  See  the 
  82. ORDER.FRM  file for details. Additionally, users receive the  very  useful 
  83. bonus  utility "Rosenthal History (tm)" free with their paid  registration 
  84. or upgrade.

  86. Rosenthal  Uninstall will map each disk drive as it is logged.  Any  drive 
  87. with read and write access will work including network, fixed,  removable, 
  88. PCMCIA, ram-card and an unlimited number of floppy diskettes. 
  89.  
  90. Execute  "UNINSTAL.EXE"  before adding each new  software  package.  After 
  91. you've installed and evaluated the new software, you can elect to keep  it 
  92. by  selecting  the "U - Update" function. The map is the updated  and  the 
  93. current time and date are recorded.

  95. Accepting  added software with the "U - update" option also  displays  any 
  96. identical copies on the same disk that may already exist. "U - Update"  or 
  97. "P  - Purge" software before adding anything new. Software that  has  been 
  98. added  to  the  map  using the "Update"  function  can  later  be  removed 
  99. selectively by file name using the "P - Purge" function.
  100.  
  101. To  remove unwanted software, the "P - Purge" function must be  displayed. 
  102. To  display the function, first  log (or re-log) the disk drive using  the 
  103. "L - Logged drive change" function.
  104.  
  105. Newly  created  files  display  their  date  and  time  stamps.  You   may 
  106. selectively   "E  -Exempt" files from the removal list. If  you  elect  to 
  107. exempt a file from being purged that resides in a directory that is listed 
  108. for removal, the directory is automatically exempted as well. 
  109.  
  110. When  you elect to "P - Purge" newly installed software that has  modified 
  111. the  AUTOEXEC.BAT,  CONFIG.SYS, WIN.INI or SYSTEM.INI files  (or  in  rare 
  112. cases the boot sector), they will be restored automatically. 
  113.  
  114. When  software  has  been added using the "U - Update"  function,  it  can 
  115. latter  be removed selectively by file name, again using the "P  -  Purge" 
  116. function.  Enter a file name associated this the application.  Wild  cards 
  117. "*"  can be included in the file name and no drive or path name should  be 
  118. included. For example "FILE*.*" will search every directory on the  logged 
  119. drive. When a match is found it will be displayed along with the date  and 
  120. time  of  when it was added to the map. "D - Display" will  show  all  the 
  121. files  added at that session. Again, you can "E - Exempt" any you want  to 
  122. keep.  This is especially true of files that are shared by other  programs 
  123. like run time libraries and .DLL's.
  124.  
  125. Software  that  has  not yet been added to the map  using  the  "U-Update" 
  126. function  can  be completely uninstalled and the  systems  files  restored 
  127. automatically.  When  software is selectively purged at a latter  date  by 
  128. file  name, the system files may need to be restored manually  using  your 
  129. ASCII  file  editor. The program "Rosenthal History (tm)"  will  show  the 
  130. changes  that  were  made to your system files  so  editing  system  files 
  131. becomes very straight forward and quite simple.

  137. The  bonus  utility "Rosenthal History (tm)" is included  ABSOLUTELY  FREE 
  138. with  paid  registration or upgrade. It maintains a  running  timeline  of 
  139. changes,  additions  and deletions made to the  AUTOEXEC.BAT,  CONFIG.SYS, 
  140. WIN.INI  and  SYSTEM.INI  files. An easy to understand,  plain  text  file 
  141. (RE_HIST.DAT) history report can be referred to when uninstalling software 
  142. or  to  resolve conflicts. Add Rosenthal History and begin  recording  the 
  143. timeline  as  soon as possible. Read the RE_HIST.DOC file for  a  complete 
  144. discription of this very highly acclaimed, must have utility.
